Location: Olón, Santa Elena
Area: 1,280 m²
Type: Farm – Ranch
This project prioritizes animal welfare. The farm is home to donkeys, rabbits, guinea pigs, quails, various species of chickens, turtles, ducks, and a pond with tilapia—all kept in separate areas according to their specific needs.
The design of the animal shelter was laid out in the shape of a figure-eight, clearly dividing the space into two main zones. The larger area is dedicated to ducks, chickens, and fish, promoting a free-range breeding system.
The ranch structures are built using natural and sustainable materials such as cane, wood, and superadobe. Additionally, we implemented a biodigester connected to the animal pits, which collects organic matter through a network of pipes. This system allows us to produce two valuable byproducts: methane gas and biol.
As an essential element for the sustainability of the project, we also maintain worm farms, which play a key role in enriching the soil and supporting the ranch’s agricultural activities.
